Had a very good day yesterday, a few drinks round Manchester culminating with watching Muse - the closest thing modern music has to Queen, and who can be like U2 without the twattishness - the only mark being some silly bint being a silly bitch.
Now, at concerts there tends to be three main sections - the front where it's all jumpy, and where you can reasonably expect some bruises as part of the shoving and moving, the middle where you can dance away without feeling like a sardine and the back where, well, you just watch. Energetic concerts anyway, not sure you get too many mosh pits at a Daniel O'Donnell gig.
We were in the middle, where shy of being at a Motorhead or Slipknot gig, you expect not to acquire bruises or injuries.
So we're there enjoying it, and nearby there were three young girls, one barely in her late teens, getting elbowed in the noggin by this daft cow who thought that maybe the entire gig was for her, and all these other people who had turned up were just inconveniences. She was asked nicely several times to stop it, but decided to persist, because her fun was the only consideration.
This was when my Lancelot complex kicked in... I simply shunted her behind me to shield the girls. I'm a big guy and can push back, and my elbows can swing back too. Didn't go down too well, needless to say, at which point a rather heated debate sprang up, the result being I offered to let have have 'her' place back in exchange for her not acting like a Chav bitch.
Amazingly enough she behaved from then on in, she did have a little cry - nothing quite like having a victim mentality is there? I really don't think she understood the entire reason I acted the way I did was as a response to her being, well, a cunt really.
I've been to hundreds of concerts, mostly of the metal variety, and I have to say the only time I ever encounter this kind of wankerish behaviour is at the indie gigs. Just don't be a cunt, really it isn't difficult.
